Madonna continues to expand her “Confessions” universe and has just announced one of the most anticipated surprises of the year: the world premiere of “Confessions II – The Movie” on YouTube next June 8 at 11 a.m. (Eastern time).
The news, confirmed by the artist herself on her social networks, comes accompanied by a poster that promises stellar appearances and an unprecedented visual proposal.
Before arriving on YouTube, the film had an exclusive premiere at the iconic Beacon Theater in New York, as part of the Tribeca Film Festival.
According to the official description of the festival, “Confessions II” is presented as an “ambitious visual work of more than 10 minutes,” built around the first six songs from Madonna’s upcoming self-titled album, which will be released on July 3 through Warner Info. Among the songs included, “I Essentially feel So Free” and “Carry Your Esteem” stand out, the latter a duet with Sabrina Wood employee.
The film is listed as “a single, continuous piece” that weaves together interconnected musical sequences to deliver “an immersive cinematic experience.”
The statement, according to Selection, adds: “A film that gives physicality to the music. “Confessions II” lives in the tension between the alter and the delivery, between being seen and disappearing into the crowd.”
The cast
The official poster revealed a surprising cast. Guest appearances include names such as Arca, Archie Madekwe, Benedict Cumberbatch, Cole Palmer, Debi Mazar, Gwendoline Christie, Honey Dijon, João Pedro, Julia Garner, Kate Moss, Odessa A’zion, Richard E. Grant, Shygirl and Madonna’s own daughter, Lourdes Leon.
Madonna is in full promotional campaign. In April, she debuted the technology’s first single, “I Essentially Feel So Free,” before appearing as a surprise guest during Sabrina Wood Employee’s concert at Coachella (second weekend). There they premiered “Carry Your Esteem” together, which they later released on digital platforms.
In addition, the artist offered a surprise performance in Times Square, New York, in collaboration with the Grindr app. During the event, he performed three songs that mixed his classic “Confessions on a Dance Floor” with songs from the upcoming sequel. To close the day, he released the third single from the album, “Esteem Sensation”, available now in streaming along with a radio version.
“Confessions II – The Movie” will premiere on June 8 at 11 a.m. ET exclusively on YouTube.
