A North Hollywood neighborhood was evacuated after Explosive cartridges were discovered in a homereported the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD).
According to the LAPD, The homeowner discovered 20 sticks of dynamite inside a freezer in the garagearound 9:10 a.m. in the 6100 block of Rhodes Avenue, so residents of the Valley Glen neighborhood were evacuated.
Captain Warner Castillo of the LAPD’s North Hollywood Division said officers responded to a call from the homeowner. after the shocking discovery he made while cleaning the freezer.

The owner of the house told the LAPD that I had no idea who the explosive belongs to. nor how he got to the place.
The complainant explained that She and her late husband bought the freezer when they acquired the propertyas Captain Castillo explained.
Apparently the woman’s husband died several years ago.

After verifying the presence of the 20 sticks of dynamite, the presence of explosives experts was requestedwho confirmed that the cloth was active.
LAPD officers canvassed the surrounding areas door to door to urge residents to temporarily leave their homes as a precautionary measure.
The dynamite had a total weight of between 10 and 15.5 pounds (4.5 and 7 kilograms), and was sprayed with diesel by experts to neutralize it. The 20 cartridges of the explosives were transferred, in an airtight container, to an unidentified location.

Captain Castillo assured that the incident was not under investigation as a criminal matter and that the police considered the dynamite sticks “lost or found.”
Researchers are working to find out exactly where the explosives come from and how they got to the freezer in North Hollywood.
“I’m not an expert, But who put it there thinking it was going to be safe?for what it’s worth,” added Captain Castillo.

The LAPD officer said that dynamite can be purchased if any construction work is being done, but it is necessary to request permits and licenses for its managementso community members can’t just buy it in a store.
About 32 people were evacuated within a 164-yard (150-meter) radius. of the house where the dynamite was discovered, while 22 residents chose to remain in their homes.
During the investigation and handling of the explosives, several neighborhood streets remained closed.
