In January 2025, César Huerta left the UNAM Pumas to live his first experience in Europe with RSC Anderlecht. More than a year after his transfer, the “Chino” has had problems standing out in Belgian football.
César Huerta went through a long rehabilitation process after undergo surgery to treat pubalgia. The Mexican forward had to wait for several months to be fit at his club in Belgium.
This season has not been the best for the Aztec striker. “Chino” only accumulated 17 games in the entire campaign (832 minutes on the field). César Huerta only scored 2 goals for RSC Anderlecht.
But these numbers do not compare to his beginnings within the Belgian team. César Huerta was a very used player at the end of the previous season. The “Chino” played up to 21 games in his first steps in Belgium (1,330 minutes on the field). Huerta scored 3 goals and gave 3 assists during this first stage.
César Huerta to the World Cup
Javier Aguirre trusted César Huerta for the 2026 World Cup. Although he does not have as much competitive pace, the “Chino” will be in the World Cup. The former Pumas player played in Mexico’s last friendly match against the Australian team. Huerta played forty five minutes. It was his reunion with El Tri since October 2025.
“I think that the pride, the excitement, as you say, being at home, seeing the stadium full… I think that more than responsibility, it is that responsibility to turn it into something good in motivation, in excitement, in pride, in wanting to make history in your country.”said the Mexican upon learning of his call-up with Mexico.
