Xiaomi wants to gain ground in the market Electric SUVs and has just taken an important step with a new variant of the YU7. The Chinese firm presented the edition “Commonplace” of its star model with a very clear strategy, offering more autonomy and a more competitive price compared to the Tesla Mannequin Yone of the world leaders in the segment.

The play is not coincidental. Even the name chosen for this new configuration seems to point directly to the American model. Xiaomi decided to adopt the name “Commonplace Edition”, a formula very similar to that used by Tesla in its access versions. The objective is clear, to attract those looking for a top-class electric SUV without blowing up the budget.

The new Xiaomi YU7 Commonplace has a starting price of $32,100 at the exact exchange rate and thus becomes the most accessible option in the range. The reduction compared to the previous variant is around 8%, a significant figure in an increasingly competitive market.
Maintains the design and changes what is important
On a visible level, Xiaomi barely touched the design of the SUV. The YU7 retains a modern and muscular image, in addition to its generous dimensions. The model measures 4,999 mm long, 1,996 mm wide and 1,600 mm high, while the wheelbase remains at 3,000 mm.
Where changes do appear is in the total weight of the vehicle. Thanks to the addition of a new battery, the SUV now registers 2,200 kg, which represents a reduction of 115 kg compared to the previous entry version.
The brand also maintains several customization options. Customers will be able to choose new 20-inch wheel designs and different body colors, reinforcing the model’s top-class approach.
A technological inner and without big surprises
Inside there are no revolutions either. Xiaomi opted to preserve the already known configuration of the YU7with a large panoramic screen that runs along a good part of the inner front and a huge central multimedia panel.
The materials and upholstery seem to be maintained without major modifications. The company did not announce specific news in this section, something that makes it clear that the main focus was on improving the relationship between price and autonomy.
Autonomy is once again the great argument
The figure that draws the most attention is autonomy. The Xiaomi YU7 Commonplace approves up to 643 kilometers under the Chinese CLTC cyclea figure that places it among the most competitive electric SUVs in its category.
To achieve this, the model incorporates a 73 kWh CATL battery with LFP chemistry. In addition, it uses a single electric motor located on the rear axle, capable of developing 315 HP of power.
Xiaomi even directly compared this version to the Tesla Mannequin Y Access. According to the data shown by the Chinese brand, The American SUV uses a 62.5 kWh battery and covers 593 kilometers under the same cycle.
Xiaomi wants to repeat the impact of its launch
With the arrival of this new Commonplace version, the variant that previously occupied the entry step is now called “Long Vary”. The move seeks to further expand the commercial reach of the YU7 and attract a wider audience.
The SUV had already shown enormous interest in the Chinese market since its debut. When it began marketing in June 2025, the model recorded nearly 240,000 orders during its first 18 hours available, a data that made evident Xiaomi’s strong impact on the electric automotive industry.
