Fable Video games just released the v40.40 update of Fortnite, and the players of the Zero Construction mode They are facing the biggest revision of their gameplay since the mode arrived in 2022. The changes are profound, experimental and come accompanied by one of the most anticipated crossovers of the year — Overwatch officially enters the island.

The changes that transform combat into Zero Construction

The most talked about adjustment is the removal of lethal fall damage. If you fall from a height that would have previously eliminated you, you now land with a splat animation, leaving you with barely 1hp and you lose all your shields. It’s brutal, yes, but it gives you one last chance to survive. This mechanic only applies to unranked matches, so competitive play is not affected.

There is another change that modifies the team dynamic significantly: eliminations now automatically restore the player’s overshield. What this means is that playing aggressively no longer leaves you exposed, but rather rewards you. If you eliminate one by one, you come into each subsequent fight with a defensive advantage. It is a design twist that favors the offensive style.

Infinite Flee, mobility and pocket items

Mobility also gets a boost the truth is wide. Holding the pickaxe grants unlimited lumberwhich completely changes the way you cross the island and escape or chase rivals. There is no longer any need to ration stamina in the initial phases.

The system of “pocket items” replaces the build button with items with unlimited use and recharge time. At the beginning of each game you receive a random one from these three:

  • Shock wave grenades — to reposition yourself or throw enemies into the void
  • medical fog grenades — visible coverage with health recovery
  • shield bubbles — defensive protection in open combat

He also returns parachute redeployment permanently in Zero Private, and environmental structures now take more damage from weapons, encouraging them to be used as genuine tactical cover.
