A woman identified as Rosette Pierrecius was arrested in Bradenton, Florida, after her four-year-old daughter drowned during a family gathering at the pool of a residential complex. Police maintain that the minor remained submerged for several minutes without supervision.
Officers from the Bradenton Police Department responded Saturday night to an emergency call at the Kendall Ridge apartment complex, located near Tampa, Fox 13 reported.
The authorities arrived at the scene a few minutes after 9:00 p.m. and They found the girl unconscious after being pulled out of the water by people present at the scene.
The agents began cardiopulmonary resuscitation maneuvers before the minor was taken to a hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.
Police point out lack of supervision during the party
The investigation determined that the girl was participating in a family gathering around the pool when He disappeared underwater without the adults present noticing.
According to detectives, the minor remained submerged for several minutes while the party continued in the common area of the residential complex.
The girl’s mother, identified as Rosette Pierrecius, was arrested Sunday and charged with child neglect resulting in great bodily harm.
Authorities described the activity as an unauthorized party outside of permitted hours at the complex’s pool.
Security films contradicted testimonies
Police spokesperson Meredith Censullo indicated that investigators reviewed recordings from the security cameras at the location and concluded that The minor was underwater for a “significant period” before being discovered.
In addition, he assured that the images did not coincide with the statements offered by the mother and other witnesses present at the scene.
Police maintained that neither adult was actively watching the girl at the time of the incident.
“It is a difficult decision to accuse a mother who has just lost her daughter,” Censullo stated, although he added that investigators believe there was a serious failure of supervision.
The Police Department recalled that Drowning remains the leading cause of death among children ages one to four in the United States.
The authorities urged families to always designate an adult exclusively responsible for supervising minors when they are near swimming pools or bodies of water.
The investigation remains open and police have not ruled out the possibility of filing additional charges related to the girl’s death.
