Kia does not seem to be content with manufacturing electric SUVs for all tastes. The Korean brand also wants to recover that emotional side that the stinger and you already have a very advanced candidate to fill that place. When it first appeared end of 2025the concept attracted attention for its aggressive design and futuristic grand tourer proportions. It didn’t take long for comparisons to appear with the Stinger and there were also those who asked Kia to be encouraged to produce it as soon as possible.

Kia recognizes that cost remains the big obstacle
Karim Habib, Kia’s head of design, explained that the popular brake has to do with the development of a high-performance electric vehicle. Even so, he made it clear that the brand does not want to abandon this type of car.
“Right now, this is a strategic issue. It is a pure electric vehicle and the cost of developing a high performance electric vehicle is what is holding us back. We expect the upward trend of electric vehicles to continue. I think there will be greater acceptance of this type of car. At least, it is our bet.”
The executive also recalled Kia’s experience with the Stinger and hinted that the company still believes in sports sedans, even in an industry dominated by SUVs.
“We have some experience manufacturing cars like the Stinger and it is something we do not want to abandon. The Meta Turismo is our idea of a sports sedan for the gamer generation. A few years ago, we started thinking about what we could do beyond SUVs. “We produce and sell a lot of SUVs, which is positive, but we also believe there are more possibilities.”
A design designed to mark a new stage
Regardless of whether or not it becomes a production model, the Meta Turismo already functions as a design laboratory for Kia’s future. The concept introduces an evolution of the aesthetic philosophy known as Opposites United.
The brand wants to apply this new identity in future launches, including urban electric models that will occupy the same space as the sincere Picanto.
Habib explained the vision behind this new stage of design: “We design cars with a deliberately futuristic look because we want them, once again, to promise a better future and for people to join us in that vision. The idea of finding new forms is not just that, but finding new forms, because something new for the mere fact of being new does not contribute anything. The important thing is that it brings progress. It should bring something positive to the experience.”
The project has already shown that it can become a reality
Inside Kia they assure that the car is not simply a salon fantasy. Oliver Samson, head of design for Europe, confirmed that the team has already verified the technical feasibility of the project.
“We wanted to answer that question: Is this something we could do or what would it look like? In order to answer it, we needed to prove that it would work. And if, [descubrimos que] “It would be physically possible.”
Everything indicates that Kia is still waiting for the right moment to launch such a model. The brand considers that the sports electric market still needs to mature a little more, although the Meta Turismo seems to have passed almost all the previous stages.
