Omar García Harfuch, Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection, had to come forward to guarantee the safety of Mexican and foreign fans in the next World Cup 2026, after the attack on the Teotihuacán pyramids that cost the life of a foreigner.

Questioned at the “La Mañanera” conference, the strong man of security in the Aztec nation denied the red lights that have been lit after the death of this tourist of Canadian nationality, as well as the count of several injured and the assailant dead.

Once the damage caused by this attack was confirmed, the red lights were immediately turned on to guarantee security at the next World Cup event. which for the first time will be held in three countries: the United States, Mexico and Canadatherefore, in relation to Mexican territory, Harfuch denied that there is any kind of risk and that law enforcement forces will be on alert to guarantee security.

“We are convinced that the security of the World Cup is guaranteed,” said García Harfuch and reiterated that ordinary protocol meetings are held every day not only with the federal cabinet, but with the governments of Jalisco and Nuevo León, who are also preparing to host the World Cup in Monterrey and Guadalajara.

The security secretary also reported that the World Cup security strategy has been planned for a year and that coordination is already in place. with the state police of Nuevo León, Jalisco and CDMX

However, David Faitelson, TUDN commentator, questioned the government again as in the case of journalist Julio Ibáñezwhere the Mexican consular authorities in South Africa were very slow to help resolve the arrest of this reporter for flying a drone in a prohibited area.

Now on his social networks, he sent a harsh message to the Secretary of Security after his statements at the President’s conference. Where he quoted his words and assured that, in Mexico, no one’s safety is guaranteed.

Is security at the World Cup guaranteed? Mr. @OHarfuch, with all due respect, the safety of no one in this country is “guaranteed”, neither before, nor during or after the World Cup… https://t.co/nn7dRxuta2

“Is security at the World Cup guaranteed? Mr. Harfuch, with all due respect, The safety of no one in this country is ‘guaranteed’, neither before, nor during or after the World Cup.”in a clear allusion to the opacity with which the security forces in Mexico are handled, facing a serious crisis due to drug trafficking, disappearances and femicides.
