California Governor Gavin Newsomtoday published the proclamation for the extraordinary special election in Congressional District 14, a seat that became vacant after the resignation of Eric Swalwell.

Newsom, in his proclamation, announced that the extraordinary primary elections will be held on June 16, while The extraordinary general elections will take place two months later, on August 18.

Swalwell submitted his resignation to the United States House of Representatives after accusations of abuse and sexual misconduct that were revealed on Friday, April 10, in two separate reports published by the San Francisco Chronicle and CNN.
