Mexican representative was caught challenging another legislator with blows in the middle of a session of Congress

A session in the Chamber of Deputies ended in an attempted fight between the Morena legislator, Zenyazen Escobarand the PRI deputy Carlos Gutierrez Mancillain the midst of the discussion about the so-called “narco-candidacies.”

Videos broadcast on social networks show the moment in which both deputies exchange insults from their seats, until the Morenista stands up and adopts a fighting stance while being restrained by fellow bench members.

According to journalistic reports, PRI member Carlos Gutiérrez Mancilla first launched a series of disqualifications against Escobar, whom he called “stripper” and “climber”in addition to challenging him to fight. In response, the Veracruz deputy stood up from his seat and faced the PRI legislator.

During the altercation, Opposition deputies began to yell “drunk” at the Morenistawhile other legislators intervened to prevent the confrontation from escalating to blows.

After the incident, PRI legislators requested that an anti-doping test be applied to Zenyazen Escobar, while the Morena deputy denied having been under the influence of alcohol and assured that it was caused by the PRI member.

The president of the Board of Directors, Kenia López Rabadánasked legislators to maintain order and act “at the height of their political and public responsibility.”

So far, the Chamber of Deputies has not reported whether there will be sanctions for the altercation that occurred in Congress.
