Federal and state authorities managed to capture 22 alleged members of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) in an operation carried out between the municipalities of León and Silao, Guanajuato.
Among those arrested is César Arturo “N”alias “The Tiki”identified as the alleged leader of the prison cell.
According to reports, residents of the area alerted the authorities about the presence of armed men inside a building where a meeting or celebration was allegedly taking place.
The mobilization led to a joint operation that allowed the arrest of 19 men and three womenin addition to the seizure of long and short weapons, cartridges, magazines, drugs, cash and tactical equipment with CJNG insignia.
The Frequent Prosecutor’s Office of the State of Guanajuato reported that the detainees were placed at the disposal of the Frequent Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic, and are linked to proceedings for crimes such as organized crime, possession of weapons for the exclusive use of the Army and crimes against health.
Versions from media such as the site La Silla Rota, indicate that “El Tiki” operated a prison cell related to activities such as drug dealing, kidnapping and theft of hydrocarbons in the Bajío region.
In addition, during the operation a man identified as “El Pato” was also arrested, who allegedly had arrest warrants for homicide.
