More and more brands are thoroughly reviewing their portfolios to decide which models deserve a new generation and which should remain in the past.

The result is a long list of vehicles that will soon leave the dealerships and will not be part of the offer for 2027.

The trend affects practically all segments. There are family SUVs, traditional sedans, high-performance sports cars and even some luxury models that seemed to have a guaranteed place within their respective brands.

A farewell to well-known names

Among the vehicles that will not continue as the 2027 model year are names with a long history in the industry. Models such as the Acura RDX, Ford Lag, Nissan Altima, Subaru Legacy and Volkswagen Arteon are among the most striking casualties.

The list also includes more exclusive proposals such as the Audi RS7, BMW 8 Series, BMW Z4, Lexus LC, Lexus RC, Jaguar F-Scoot and Maserati Ghibli. Some of them represent the end of a generation, while others could disappear without a direct successor.

Vehicles such as the Mitsubishi Mirage, Cadillac CT4, Volvo S60, Toyota Prius V and Chrysler Voyager. In addition, several electrified versions and specific configurations will be left out of their manufacturers’ future plans.

The market is changing rapidly

The decisions are not solely due to a sales issue. Manufacturers are concentrating resources on more profitable models and technologies that allow them to face the challenges of the coming years.

Electrification plays an important role in this process. Many brands consider that maintaining certain products is increasingly less attractive compared to the possibility of developing new SUVs, crossovers or electric vehicles with better commercial prospects.

For this reason, some well-known models end up being sacrificed despite having a horrendous number of loyal followers.

Top rate cars are not saved either

The restructuring even reaches luxury manufacturers. Goodbye to vehicles like the BMW 8 Series, the Audi RS7, the Lexus LC or the Jaguar F-Scoot It shows that the prestige of a name does not always guarantee its continuity.

Buyer preferences have changed considerably. Today much of the demand is concentrated in SUVs and crossovers, which leaves less room for coupes, large sedans and niche sports cars.

In several cases, these goodbyes could open the door to electrified models or completely new proposals that better respond to current market demands.

What it means for buyers

For those who are thinking about purchasing one of these vehicles, the news can have two readings. On the one hand, it is possible to find interesting promotions while brands sell off the last available units.

On the other hand, it is advisable to analyze aspects such as the future availability of parts, technical support and the behavior of the resale value. Each case will be different depending on the brand and the production volume of the model.
