Antonio Oseguera Cervantesidentified as brother of Nemesio Oseguera Cervantesalias “El Mencho”leader of Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG), agreed to plead guilty in US federal court as part of a deal with US prosecutors.

According to court documents shared by journalist Keegan Hamilton on social networks, Oseguera Cervantes, also known as “Tony Montana”will appear before the Federal Court of the District of Columbia, in Washington, where he will formalize his guilty plea to charges related to drug trafficking activities.

The agreement prevents the case from going to trial and opens the door to an eventual sentence reduction, depending on the terms of cooperation and the assessment made by the federal judge in charge of the process.

The US authorities point to Antonio Oseguera as a key piece within the CJNG structurea criminal organization dedicated to international drug trafficking and considered one of the most powerful in Mexico.

“Tony Montana” was arrested in Mexico in December 2022 and later extradited to the United States, where he faces accusations of conspiracy to distribute cocaine and methamphetamine, as well as participating in operations linked to drug trafficking into the United States.

The hearing to formalize the plea agreement is scheduled in federal court in Washington.

With this factual movement, the prosecution avoids a prolonged judicial process and strengthens its strategy against high-level members of the CJNG.

The case joins other plea agreements reached by Mexican drug trafficking leaders and operators in US courts, a practice that has allowed authorities to obtain information about criminal structures and their financial networks.
