A 41-year-old man died this Monday after being shot during an argument aboard a public transport bus in the Bronx borough of New York City.
According to preliminary information from the New York Police (NYPD), the incident occurred around 2:30 in the afternoon on a bus on route BX36, near the intersection of East Tremont Avenue and White Plains Side motorway, in the Parkchester sector.
Discussion inside the bus
According to authorities and sources cited by the Current York Put up, the victim allegedly confronted a teenager who was talking on a cell phone at high volume while riding the bus.
The discussion escalated quickly and The young man, whose age is estimated to be between 13 and 16, allegedly pulled out a firearm and shot the passenger.
The bullet hit the victim in the abdomen.
After the attack, emergency teams transported the man to the Jacobi Clinical Center.
Despite medical efforts, the victim died shortly after due to the severity of his injuries.
Authorities have not publicly released his identity while his next of kin were notified.
Suspect remains at large
The police reported that The alleged attacker was wearing a white t-shirt and used a black gun during the attack.
After the shooting, he fled running south along the White Plains Side motorway and remained at large at the time of writing.
NYPD agents deployed a search operation in the area and are reviewing surveillance cameras to try to identify and locate the suspect.
After the shooting, the bus was cordoned off with police tape while investigators processed the scene. Images broadcast by local media showed a blood stain on the sidewalk near the vehicle and a strong police presence at the scene.
No arrests have been made at this time and authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the homicide.
