FDA announces recall of pet foods that could cause nutritional deficiencies

This week, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced recall of pet foods manufactured by GO Raw LLC due to life-threatening nutritional deficiencies in dogs and cats.

According to the statement According to the health entity, freeze-dried and frozen raw foods contained very low levels of thiamine (vitamin B1) necessary for the neurological, digestive and metabolic function of pets, so a deficiency of this nutrient, especially in cats, could even cause seizures.

The FDA report details the recalled foods with their expiration dates, which were distributed in retail stores in at least 21 states in the country:

1.25 pound bags of Steve’s Staunch Meals Freeze Dried Chicken Recipe with lot code C26022, UPC 6-91730-164 02-7 and best before date 01/22/2028.

Quest chicken-flavored cat food, freeze-dried nuggets, in 10-ounce bags, with lot code C25288, UPC 6-91730-18103-1, and best before date 10/15/2027.

Quest Chicken Flavor Cat Food, Frozen, in 2 and 12 pound bags with lot codes MCD25350 and MCC25321, UPC 6-91730-17104-9 and expiration dates 05/17/2027 and 06/16/2027.
