The Curaçao team will be in the 2026 World Cup. The Concacaf team will attend a World Cup for the first time in its history. Curiously, the people of Curacao have a fact that stands out among those summoned: only Tahith Chong was born in Curaçao.
Of the 26 players summoned by the coach Dick Advocat, also born in another country, only Tahith Chong can claim to have been born in Curaçao territory.
It is worth mentioning that this small island is part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. This has allowed the Caribbean nation strengthen a good political and social relationship. In this sense, The Netherlands is the best option for citizens in terms of immigration.
Tahith Chong was born in Willemstad, capital of Curacao.. However, Chong himself left the island at a very young age. Tahith Chong left for the Netherlands and it was in the European country where he began to develop his career as a soccer player.
The attacking midfielder, at 16 years old, signed with Manchester United to continue with his football development. Chong formed his career until he defended the colors of the Werder Bremen, Bruges, Birmingham, Luton and now at Sheffield United.
It is worth mentioning that Tahith Chong carried out the entire youth selection process with the Netherlands. Chong played from the U-15 category until finishing at the U-21 level. Since September 2025 he represents Curaçao and his name will remain in the history of the island and world football.
