A man identified as Joshua Kannin, 39, faces multiple charges of child neglect after the deaths of his three children in a fire occurred in November 2025 in Kenosha, Wisconsin.

According to the criminal complaint, Kannin called emergency services on the night of Nov. 27 in a state of desperation, asking for help as the fire had already spread through the home.

The father was also affected and was hospitalized.
The investigation determined that there were no operational smoke detectors in the home. According to the defendant himself, he had removed the device because “it constantly failed.”
