Olivia Videtto, a five-year-old girl from Connecticut, died after suffering a serious head injury in a fall on a playground in her family home. Authorities reported that there are no indications of legal activity and that the investigation continues pending the results of the autopsy.
The tragedy occurred on Sunday afternoon in the town of Harwinton, in the state of Connecticut. According to State Police, Olivia Videtto was using a play structure on her family’s property when she fell and hit her head.
Emergency services responded to the residence located on Laurel Avenue shortly after 2:00 p.m. Due to the severity of the injuries, the minor was transported by helicopter to a medical center, where she later died.
The authorities indicated that, So far, “nothing legal” related to the incident has been found. The girl’s body was sent to the medical examiner’s office to officially determine the cause of death.
A community shocked by loss
Olivia’s death has generated a deep shock in Harwinton, a community where the minor was widely known and appreciated.
The town’s first selectman, Michael R. Criss, expressed his condolences to the family and highlighted the emotional impact that the tragedy has had on neighbors and relatives.
“There are no words that can adequately express the pain our community feels,” he said in a statement.
For his part, state senator Paul Honig also mourned the death of the girl.
“Words are insufficient to describe the magnitude of this loss. Olivia was a part of our community and her absence leaves a mark on all of Harwinton,” he said.
As explained by school superintendent Fran Thompson, Olivia was an outstanding student and highly appreciated within the educational community.
The minor had spent three years at Harwinton Consolidated College, where she attended both preschool and kindergarten.
Thompson described her as a happy, enthusiastic girl with a deep interest in learning. “Everyone loved her. Skills was a true joy and represented the spirit of the school and Region 10,” he stated.
Olivia was also involved in the PawPals program, a student initiative focused on community service activities.
Although authorities do not suspect any criminal conduct, the Connecticut State Police remains open to the investigation to fully clarify the circumstances of the accident.
