Trump appoints Bill Pulte as acting director of National Intelligence

President Donald Trump named this Tuesday Bill Pulte as Acting Director of National Intelligencea decision that, according to national media, places one of its closest allies in charge of one of the most sensitive areas of the federal government while a permanent replacement is considered.

Pulte, who currently heads the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) and chairs the boards of directors of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, will temporarily assume the functions left vacant Tulsi Gabbard after announcing his departure from office.

The announcement was made by Trump through his Fact Social platform, where he highlighted Pulte’s experience in managing financial organizations and issues considered strategic for the country.

Trump highlights Pulte experience

In his message, the president explained that the appointment responds to the confidence he has in his collaborator’s ability to assume high-level responsibilities.

“I am appointing the head of the Federal Housing Finance Agency and chairman of Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac, William J. Pulte, to serve as acting director of National Intelligence. “William has deep experience managing some of America’s most sensitive issues, the safety and soundness of the markets and more than $10 trillion in Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac,” Trump wrote.

The president added that Pulte will simultaneously maintain his current responsibilities leading the FHFA and the two federally backed mortgage giants.

“During this period he will remain as director of the Federal Housing Finance Agency and president of Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac. Congratulations to Director Pulte!” Trump added.
