Applications will be open until June 7 for nonprofits, schools, faith groups and community organizations
LOS ANGELES — Los Angeles Council Member Curren Label announced the launch of a second round of the District 9 Community Grant Program, an initiative that will award a full $3 million in funding to organizations serving the South Los Angeles community.
Organizations can now apply for grants ranging from $5,000 to $100,000 to support programs and services that directly benefit District 9 residents. Applications will be accepted online through CD9.LACITY.ORG through June 7.
Eligible entities include nonprofit organizations, faith-based organizations, schools, neighborhood councils, and health and community service providers serving residents of District 9. The grant program aims to help local organizations expand and sustain community work already taking place throughout the district.
“Community organizations are the backbone of our neighborhoods,” said Council Member Label. “They are often the first place families turn for support and opportunities. Whether it’s connecting residents to essential resources, helping youth stay on the right path, or creating safer, stronger communities, these groups play a vital role in daily life in South Los Angeles. This investment is to support the people who are already doing that work.”
Funding priorities include homelessness prevention, public safety, immigration assistance, youth programs, health and wellness, community engagement initiatives, among others.
This new round of funding builds on the success of the District 9 Community Grants Program launched in 2022, which awarded more than $4 million to nearly 100 local organizations.
