President Donald Trump will not have in time the gold coins with his image that the government planned to release as part of the celebration of the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States.

Since the end of March, the Fine Arts Commission had already approved the final design of a commemorative coin with Trump’s image, as part of the aforementioned celebrations.

However, the size and denomination of the currency were pending to be defined.

As part of a preliminary design, the obverse of the coin featured an image of the nation’s loyal leader wearing a suit and tie, leaning forward over what appears to be a desk.

At the top, the motto “Freedom” appears along with the dates 1776-2026, while the phrase “In God we trust” is located at the bottom, surrounded by stars.

Regarding the reverse of the coin, you can read the phrases “United States of America” and “E pluribus unum”, one of the country’s historical mottos, accompanied by an image of a bald eagle in full flight.

The controversial point is that the Mint announced, through a document cited by the magazine Newsweek, that President Trump’s gold coins will not be ready in time for the celebrations, as the final design has not even been approved and production could take several months.

“The Mint is currently in the design phase of a large 24-karat gold coin depicting President Trump in commemoration of the 25th anniversary of the United States.

There is no official release date for this gold coin. While the coin will be minted to celebrate the 25th anniversary on July 4, 2026, this is not the planned date for its issue“wrote April Stafford, director of the Mint’s Design Management Office, in the appropriate document in the possession of the aforementioned news outlet.

It turned out that Only 47 coins will be minted, each of which will contain an estimated value of $90,000 dollars in gold.
