The arrival of the EX60 also represents a strategic move for Volvo in North America. The electric SUV seeks to capture those who still hesitate to abandon combustion engines, especially due to issues related to charging and long distances. With a starting price of $58,400the brand intends to position it as a premium alternative within the mid-size electric market.

“The Volvo EX60 meets the key needs of American customers and is ideally positioned to play a traditional role in Volvo’s growth ambitions in the US.”said Luis Rezende, president of Volvo Automobile Americas. “Backed by nearly 100 years of safety leadership and Scandinavian design heritage, the Volvo EX60 addresses the biggest barriers preventing American consumers from switching to an electric vehicle, offering the range Americans want, at a competitive price, with fast and easy charging that fits into everyday life,” he added.

An SUV designed to travel without anxiety

One of the strongest arguments of the EX60 is related to its autonomy. Volvo claims that it is the electric vehicle with the greatest range it has developed so far. The most advanced variant, called P12 AWD, will be able to travel up to 400 miles on a single charge, a figure that places it among the most competitive models on the market.

The range will start with three different configurations. The EX60 P6 will offer up to 307 miles of range, while the P10 AWD will go up to 322 miles. The P12 AWD option will be the most capable of the entire family.

The brand explains that the development of the vehicle was focused on combining efficiency, performance and practicality for daily use. The idea is that the driver can use it both in the city and on long weekend trips without constantly worrying about looking for a charging station.

Fast charging and new electric platform

The EX60 uses the new SPA3 platforman architecture developed by Volvo specifically for electric vehicles. This nefarious incorporates technologies such as batteries with cell-to-body integration, new electric motors and optimized manufacturing processes.

One of the highlights is its 800 volt electrical systemwhich allows much faster loads. According to Volvo, the EX60 can regain up to 173 miles of range in just 10 minutes, depending on the version.

The charging time from 10% to 80% ranges between 16 and 19 minutes. In addition, the SUV will be factory compatible with the NACS standard, allowing direct access to more than 29,000 Tesla Supercharger stations in the United States without the need for adapters.

Security, instruments and artificial intelligence

Safety remains one of Volvo’s central pillars and the EX60 is no exception. The model debuts HuginCore, a new central computing system capable of processing information in reliable time through advanced sensors distributed throughout the vehicle.

Thanks to this platform, Volvo turns EX60 into an instrument-defined carwith the ability to receive constant wireless updates and improve functions over time.

Another important novelty will be the incorporation of GeminiGoogle’s new artificial intelligence assistant. The system will allow interaction through natural conversations to execute tasks within the vehicle without depending on specific commands.

Volvo also announced that the EX60 will include a new generation multi-adaptive seat beltdesigned to adjust protection according to the characteristics of each occupant and the impact conditions.
