The victory gave the celestial team its 8th trophy in this competition and allowed Guardiola to reach the 41 titles in his coaching career, a figure that consolidates him as the second most successful coach in history, only behind Alex Ferguson, who has 49.

The title also represents the second of the course for Metropolis, which had already won the League Cup in March and maintains mathematical options in the Premier League, awaiting a setback from the Arsenal.

A close game that was decided by one play

For much of the final, neither team was able to set a high pace. Metropolis was the one that came closest to the rival goal, although without much clarity. A goal by Erling Haaland was disallowed for offside, and the Norwegian striker also had a chance that was saved by goalkeeper Robert Sánchez.

Chelsea showed few offensive responses. Their attempts were supported by isolated races of Joao Pedro and some particular personal action of Cole Palmerwithout generating staunch danger.

The decisive play came after a combination between Bernardo Silva and Haaland. The Norwegian attacker attended Semenyo, who, with his back to the goal and marked by Levi Colwill, He defined it with a spur maneuver to the far post.

Guardiola’s legacy continues to grow

With this trophy, Guardiola has 20 titles with Manchester Metropolisa club where he has remained for ten years. In that period they have won six English leagues, five League Cups, four FA Cups, three Community Defend Cups, one UEFA Champions League, one European Super Cup and one Club World Cup.

Before his time in England, the coach won 14 titles with FC Barcelona and seven with Bayern Munich.

In the historical classification of coaches with the most trophies, Guardiola is above Mircea Lucescu, with 36, and Valeriy Lobanovskyi, with 33.

Metropolis still have to face AFC Bournemouth and Aston Villa in the final stretch of the season. Meanwhile, Chelsea remains committed in its fight for a European spot and has gone on a streak of 14 games without beating Guardiola’s team.
