The Mexican team will face a complex challenge in the 2026 World Cup. El Tri will have the pressure of the home team behind them. The Aztec team will try to erase their recent disappointments in this World Cup. Chicharito believes that Mexico has the ideal coach to succeed in the tournament.
Javier Hernández explained that “Vasco” has many tools to help Mexico have good approaches in the cup. Experience is a key point in Javier Aguirre’s process.
Chicharito did not fall short in his praise for “Basque”. The former Genuine Madrid player qualified Javier Aguirre as the best coach in the history of Mexican soccer.
“It’s been a long time since I was their player back in 2010.16 years ago. He is a very good selector. From a tactical point of view, they have an extremely solid system and they have had good players, from whom he has known how to get the best at all times. In my opinion, He is the best Mexican coach in history. Great coaches and great players always have to appear on the big occasions,” Hernández said in statements compiled by Mediotiempo.
Javier Aguirre has had three processes on the bench of the Mexican team. The first of them was in 2001. The “Vasco” directed 27 games in which he left a balance of 17 wins, 3 draws and only 7 losses.
In 2009 he once again took over the reins of the Mexican team. In this second opportunity, Aguirre led Mexico in another 32 games. El Tri del “Vasco” left some records of 20 wins, 6 draws and 6 losses.
In this third process the numbers are similar, but the rate of defeats is lower. In 27 matches coached, Mexico accumulates 15 wins. 8 draws and only 4 defeats. The 2026 World Cup is the great goal. The “Vasco” will lead in the third World Cup of his extensive career.
Mexico in the 2026 World Cup
The Mexican team was paired in the Group A of the 2026 World Cup along with the selections of South Africa, Czech Republic and South Korea. Chicharito highlighted the importance of the first game to take on the remaining duels in the group more calmly. Mexico will debut on June 11 at the Azteca Stadium against the South African team.
“I hope that in these last preparation games I do very well and the team unites. It is important to get a good result in the first match against South Africa. Hopefully, from there we can move forward at a good pace. “The sky is the limit,” said Javier Hernández.
