Donald Trump’s administration assured that it had gone twelve consecutive months without releasing immigrants detained at the southern border, a fact that the White House boasts as one of the main achievements of its immigration policy.

Through a press release, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the Customs and Border Protection (CBP) They maintain that irregular crossings and arrests at the border are at historic lows.

According to official figures, During April 2026, 8,943 arrests were recorded on the border southwest, a drop of 94% compared to the monthly average of the Joe Biden administration and 96% less than the peak reached in December 2023.
