Elements of the Secretariat of the Navy (Semar), in coordination with Customs agents at the Mexico City International Airport, detained a man who was transporting approximately 8.8 kilos of cocaine hidden in a wheelchair.
This action was carried out as part of the inspection and surveillance tasks at the Airport with the support of a canine pair, which detected that a passenger was transporting the illicit cargo in a wheelchair, so it was inspected with an “X-ray” system.
The authorities reported that The passenger tried to evade the controls by simulating a disabilitya strategy that failed to prevent the detection of the drug.
It was through the “X-ray” system as several objects could be identified that did not match the materials of the chair and upon searching thoroughly they found eight packages with the drugs.

The cocaine, separated into eight packages, was strategically placed inside the chair.
According to a statement issued by the Security Cabinet, This seizure represents 18,000 doses of cocaine which are equivalent to approximately 1.9 million pesos (around $110,000 dollars), which implies a significant economic impact on the financial structure of criminal groups.
This drug seizure occurred after the increase in security measures at the airport facilities in Mexico City, due to the start of the Soccer World Cup, whose opening will be on June 11 in the capital of that country.
