ford decided to take advantage of the celebration of the 250 years of independence of the United States to present one of the Mustang most striking and radical that have been seen so far. The blue oval brand took its most extreme model and transformed it into a kind of rolling tribute to speed, engineering and American pride.

The result is the new Mustang GTD Spirit of The USAa special edition that combines visual details inspired by the American flag with features typical of a top-level supercar. This is not just a design exercise. Ford wants to show that a muscle vehicle born in the United States can face the big European names of high performance.

Under that view this model appears. 815 horsepowerprepared to exceed 200 mph and designed to become one of the most exclusive pieces in the modern history of the Mustang.
A tribute to American speed
Ford explained that this special edition also seeks to remember the figure of Craig Breedloveconsidered one of the great references of speed in the United States.
In the ’60s, Breedlove made history by overcoming the 600mph with a vehicle powered by a jet engine built by himself. That record ended up becoming a symbol of technological ingenuity and the American obsession with breaking limits.
The philosophy behind the Mustang GTD fits perfectly with that view. The project was born to demonstrate that an American sports car could compete directly with much more expensive and exclusive European supercars. And a good part of that ambition was reflected in the record recently achieved by the model at the Nürburgring.
A design impossible to ignore
On a visual level, The Spirit of The USA quickly differentiates itself from any other Mustang. Ford opted for a body in Efficiency White accompanied by asymmetrical stripes in Speed Crimson and Lightning Blue.
Inspiration comes from the historic three-bar emblem of the Mustang, although reinterpreted with a much more aggressive and modern appearance. Also notable are the mirrors painted in red, the huge letters “Mustang” on the rear spoiler and multiple exposed carbon fiber pieces.
The front splitter, diffuser and various aerodynamic components make it clear that this car was not designed solely to attract attention at a show.
A Mustang designed for very few
Ford officially opened the process for American customers interested in purchasing this special edition. Applications will be available until May 18, 2026although that does not mean that all applicants will get a unit.
The company has not yet confirmed the final price of the vehicle, but different estimates suggest that it will easily exceed the $400,000 dollars. That puts it in territory reserved for elite supercar collectors and buyers.
