What of Xiaomi in the Chinese automotive market it is no longer a simple technological curiosity. The company is achieving figures that just a few years ago seemed reserved for manufacturers with decades of experience.

April demonstrated it clearly again, because the brand closed the month with 36,702 electric cars delivered and demand that continues to grow at high speed.

You can gape: Blunt: Europe, Asia or the US who dominates automotive luxury in America

The phenomenon has even more merit if you take into account that Xiaomi only has two models in its catalog. Even so, the Chinese firm already competes face to face against historical manufacturers and brands specialized in electric mobility. Much of the spotlight is monopolized by the new SU7, the sedan that has become the company’s great commercial engine.

The SU7 becomes Xiaomi’s star

The Xiaomi SU7 registered 26,826 registrations during April and consolidated itself as the company’s most important vehicle. The growth compared to March was enormous and the model already represents more than 73% of all sales of the brand.

The updated sedan began to be marketed on March 19 and just a few days later the first deliveries began. Since then, interest has not stopped growing. Xiaomi has managed to combine a very sporty design with a strong technological load and a particularly aggressive commercial strategy in prices.

That cocktail is working better than expected and has placed the SU7 among the most talked about electric cars on the Chinese market. In addition, Xiaomi’s brand image in the technology sector is helping to attract a young audience that seeks connectivity and features without paying exorbitant amounts.

The YU7 loses volume, but not prominence

While the SU7 gains ground, the YU7 SUV reduced its deliveries in April. The model reached 9,876 units, a horrid figure compared to March, although within the company they do not consider it a worrying problem.

The explanation is quite simple. Xiaomi still has limited production capacity and is prioritizing the model with the highest level of orders at any given time. In recent weeks, the focus has been on SU7 due to the enormous volume of demand it received after its renewal.

That means that the YU7 It could regain prominence later, especially when production returns to balance between both models.

Xiaomi prepares new models and aims for Europe

The Chinese brand does not plan to slow down in 2026. In the coming weeks it will present the new YU7 GT, the sportiest version of the electric SUV. The model is expected to have a price close to $62,000 dollars at the current exchange rate, a figure that will position it in a more exclusive segment.

Xiaomi’s plans are very ambitious. The company expects to deliver around 550,000 vehicles during 2026an important leap compared to the 411,837 units achieved the previous year. Between January and April it already accumulates 117,558 sales.

Another of the key movements will arrive with the future YU9a large plug-in hybrid SUV that will mark an important change within the company. It will be the first non-fully electric model in its range and will play an important role in expanding its presence in China before the European landing scheduled for 2027.
