The Chihuahua Prosecutor’s Office confirmed that days before an anti-drug operation, carried out between April 16 and 19, they were seen “four foreign people”, identified as alleged CIA agentswho “lived” with local agents.

In a press conference, the head of the Specialized Unit of the state Attorney General’s Office (FGE), Wendy Chávez, assured that since April 16 “it is corroborated, with atrocious new information, consisting of videos from surveillance points”, that the convoy of the authorities that left the city of Chihuahua “Four unidentified people joined, dressed in civilian clothes and without distinctive corporate insignia. or any security agency.”

On April 19, two alleged agents linked to the United States Embassy and two officials from the State Investigation Agency (AEI) of Chihuahua died in a road accident, when they were returning from the operation against a drug laboratory.

Furthermore, said Chávez, “a pattern of coexistence and interaction has been found in informal contexts between said foreigners, the director of the State Investigation Agency (AEI) and other members of the FGE.”

He also commented that these people, “They were not wearing AEI tactical uniforms or official insignia of said corporation.”.

He explained that “no formal response has been received from the diplomatic and consular representation of the United States, as well as the National Immigration Institute, regarding the presumed foreigners.”

Likewise, he noted that there is no record that the authorities involved in the operation “had requested authorization or informed their superiors regarding the presence and incorporation of foreign people into the convoy.”

On April 22, the president of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaumreported that his Government sent a diplomatic note to the United States to demand explanations for the participation of American agents in the operation, in a case that could imply a violation of national sovereignty.

The controversy grew when The Washington Post reported that the two Americans allegedly belonged to the CIA and had intelligently supported the anti-drug operation.

Sheinbaum then stated that several questions must be resolved, such as the participants in the operation, who ordered it or why the Mexican Government was not informed, and he welcomed that the FGR “clarified it” and drew conclusions as to whether current legislation was violated.
