The Argentine duo Saraomade up of artists Tushka and Rebebe, lit up social networks by pointing out the stars Shakira and Anitta for a alleged plagiarism in his most recent single titled “Choka Choka”.
According to the public complaint made through a viral video on Instagram, which already exceeds one million views, the Argentine artists maintain that the collaboration between the Barranquilla and the Brazilian has “very similar” similarities with their song “Atomic”which was published five months before the premiere of “Choka Choka.”
The members of Sarao presented a detailed comparison between both productions. “Shakira and Anitta copied us,” they stated at the beginning of their video.
The claim is not limited only to the melody. The duo maintains that the visible concept and aesthetics of the music videos are almost identical. “Even the color palette is the same”they pointed out while comparing scenes from both songs.
Although they initially considered that it could be a fortuitous coincidence, the support of their followers led them to think that the problem could originate in the production equipment. “Many agree that they may have been its producers. Maybe Shakira and Anitta don’t even know that they are copying us“, they explained.
Despite the firmness of his accusation, Sarao acknowledged that starting a formal battle would be complicated. Although they have the song duly registered, they admitted that Technical differences in the melody make it difficult for a plagiarism lawsuit to succeed in court.
For now, Neither Shakira nor Anitta have issued official statements regarding these accusations.
The Argentinian women have taken the situation with some humor, suggesting through networks that, given the obvious “inspiration”, global artists should invite them to collaborate.
