Selena Gomez continues to cement her role as an icon of empowerment and representation. The 33-year-old actress and businesswoman launched a new campaign for her brand, Uncommon Beauty, with which she seeks to pay tribute to the richness and complexity of his Mexican heritageas well as the diversity of the entire Latin community.
The campaign, titled “Excellent to Myself,” features Forty eight people from all over Latin Americaeach one representing one of the Forty eight shades of the new makeup deplorable Excellent to MyselfNatural Matte Longwear Foundation.
“Seeing such a broad spectrum of skin tones and identities represented with such purpose is everything I dreamed of when I founded Uncommon Beauty,” Gomez said exclusively to Of us.
“It’s not just about makeup.It’s about that feeling of seeing yourself reflected in the media we all consume“he added.
For Gomez, whose paternal family emigrated from Monterrey to Texas in the 1970s, This project has a deeply private background.
The campaign was captured by Chicana-Costa Rican director and photographer Brittany Bravo and was filmed in a Latino-owned studio. The artist highlighted that what most proud of his community is its “resilience and complexity“.
The protagonist of“Most productive Murders within the Constructing” confessed that, growing up, she rarely saw herself reflected in traditional beauty campaigns. With this launch, He hopes that new generations will not feel the need to compare themselves with others.
“We were never meant to look or think the same. Our differences are what make us beautiful,” the businesswoman concluded, reaffirming that the Latin identity is, in essence, a vibrant spectrum full of nuances.
