An armed confrontation between members of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) and the group of The Knights Templar left at least five people dead in the municipality of Pátzcuaro, Michoacán, according to official reports and national media.

The victims were located inside a burned-out truck, after an attack that occurred in different parts of the region.

The first investigations indicate that The incident resulted from a clash between both criminal organizations who dispute territorial control.

State authorities confirmed that the confrontation was carried out by these two criminal groups. During the investigations, it was even detected that some of the victims were wearing vests with Knights Templar insignia, which reinforces the hypothesis of direct confrontation.
