In the midst of the expectation that the concerts of btsscheduled for May 7, 9 and 10 at the GNP stadiums in Mexico City, President Claudia Sheinbaum announced the visit of the South Korean band to the emblematic National Palace.
Before concluding her morning press conference, the Mexican president announced that she will meet with the members of the renowned group prior to the concerts they will offer as part of their “Arirang” tour.
“Hey, I forgot to tell you something, for the young people. Today I’m going to receive BTS here at the National Palace in the afternoon, around 5.”he detailed to the media.
When questioned about the reason for the visit, Sheinbaum indicated that he will take advantage of this space to welcome them to the Latin American country and start a conversation about their impact on the Mexican fans.
In this way, he extended an invitation to BTS fans (called ARMY) to go to the outskirts of the National Palace to greet them: “They just come for a little while and I’m going to talk to them, in case they want to say hello to look out on the balcony,” he added.
The response from the group’s followers was immediate through digital platforms. This is how Instagram, X and TikTok were overflowing with messages like: “We had to go from now on because it’s going to fill up”; “That’s great! The young people will be happy” and “Well, the plaza was already full before 5 in the afternoon”, to name a few.
BTS’s visit to Mexico occurs as part of their “Arirang” world tourwith which its members RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V and Jungkook will offer several shows, of which 9 were in the United States, including: Tampa, El Paso, Stanford, Las Vegas, East Rutherford, Foxborough, Baltimore, Arlington and Chicago.
After their presentations in Mexico on May 7, 9 and 10, the band will continue their tour through Latin America and will visit cities such as: Bogotá, Lima, Buenos Aires, Santiago de Chile and Sao Paolo; while in Europe they will perform in Paris, London and Madrid.
So far it is known that the tour will extend until 2027, covering more than 85 dates worldwide. However, more dates could be added in the coming months.
