Armando González is one of the most promising forwards in Mexican soccer. The Chivas de Guadalajara attacker could be one of the next Mexican soccer players on the Old Continent. The “Hormiga” takes Chicharito Hernéndez as inspirationa contemporary figure.

The 23-year-old striker recognized the greatness of a Mexican soccer legend like Hugo Sanchez. However, “The Ant” was able to share a dressing room with Javier Hernández. This has made González use the former Los Angeles Galaxy player as an example.

“Well, Hugo is one of the best, but I got to see Chicharito and he is also from Chivas, I would like to be like himachieve the things he did in his career and that’s why I think I would put him above Hugo“said Armando González in an interview with Sport.

Chicharito’s recognition

Javier Hernández had a brief return to the Sacred Flock, but in a mentor role. The Chivas players recognized Chicharito’s leadership in the locker room. In 2024, when Armando González had not yet exploded, Javier Hernández already saw great qualities in the youth of the Guadalajara team.

“Sometimes, even if he doesn’t even ask me, I go and tell him even the smallest thing. I see myself reflected in him because he has that hunger and that intuition that is not trained, it is brought“Chicharito said about Armando González.

Armando González is one of the top figures of Chivas today. The striker born in Guadalajara will be part of Mexico’s call for the 2026 World Cup. A good World Cup will revalue his record even more.

According to information from Transfermarkt, Armando González has a market value of around €15 million Euros ($17.5 million dollars). “La Hormiga” has a current contract with the club until December 2019.
