It is not the first accident of this type involving a Mexican Navy aircraft. In April 2022, an MI-17 of the Navy Secretariat suffered an accident during maneuvers at the Mazatlán International Airport, when it failed during a takeoff operation, which led to a low-altitude collapse.
On that occasion, the aircraft lost stability during a maneuver and ended up impacting within the operational area of the airport, which generated an immediate mobilization of emergency and internal military bodies.
