A shooting at a residential complex in Amarillo, Texas, left two people dead and at least eight injuredas reported by the Amarillo Police Department.
The incident occurred around 2:00 a.m. Saturday at the Westminster Apartments, located on Coulter Street. A party was taking place at the location, attended mainly by minors and young adults.
Escalation of violence outside the property
According to the authorities, The attack occurred after several people were expelled from a previous location. Subsequently, these individuals followed some assistants to another apartment, where they attempted to enter by force.
It was at that moment when, allegedly using a rifle-type weapon, they opened fire on those present.
One of the victims died at the scene, while the second died after being transferred to a medical center. Eight other people were injured and taken to nearby hospitals in critical condition.
Until now, It has not been confirmed whether one or more attackers were involved in the shooting.
Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances of the attack and have not provided additional information about possible suspects.
A resident of the area described the gunshots as similar to “machine gun fire,” reflecting the intensity of the incident.
