The report recently published by the labor intelligence company Revelio highlights that in recent years The number of Americans who have left their jobs to take jobs abroad has doubled. “We are facing an increasingly globalized labor market, where everyone can work from anywhere,” Ege Aksu, an economist at Revelio, told CBS.

According to analysis datathis trend has been observed in both native and migrant American workers, where the largest wave of resignations has occurred in the technological area, moving mostly to European or Asian countries due to greater investment in artificial intelligence, among others.

“Talent is not infinite; American workers need more than just high salaries. That’s why they are betting on high-quality jobs, ambitious startups and more serious competition for talent outside the United States,” Aksu said.

In the analysis, Revelio also points out that, after the pandemic, many workers are leaning toward remote jobs; That has been prompting them to move abroad, where they have more flexible schedules unlike in the United States. “If another employer abroad offers a hybrid work model, better hours and a comparable position, that becomes a very real alternative,” Aksu added.

But it’s not just work hours that encourage more Americans to seek employment abroad; Salary compensation is the key point of this trend. Faced with high inflation, many households feel financially pressured, and in recent months the financial situation for some has been worsening, so salary is their famous motivation.

Although for Aksu, even if the salary is lower, but there are better public services, healthcare, transportation, childcare and a better work-life balance, they can make the job offer more attractive.
