After spending more than eight years in Mexican soccer, Carlos González is now trying his luck with Independiente del Valle in Ecuador. The Paraguayan forward is having very good performances with the Ecuadorian team. However, “Charly” believes that Gustavo Alfaro, Paraguay coach, has not shown interest in him.
The former UNAM Pumas player has maintained a good level of play at 30 years old. After a brief stint with Newell’s Dilapidated Boys, Carlos González is now a reference for the competitive Ecuadorian team.
But González questions his absences from the Paraguayan team’s calls. “Charly” pointed directly to Gustavo Alfaro. Although he considers that the Argentine coach has not shown interest in calling him up, González does not lose hope of being in the World Cup.
“Unfortunately, no (there was a call from Gustavo Alfaro). I don’t lose (hope), but you realize when someone can be (in the World Cup). He (Alfaro) never showed me that (interest), and I respect that“said the former Xolos de Tijuana forward.
Carlos González questioned the distance between the coaching staff and him. Despite having good numbers with Independiente del Valle, González pointed out that he has not had any contact with personalities from the national team.
“The World Cup is just around the corner and He never even called me to ask me how I am. That, obviously, to me is disappointing. I have that bitterness, because I always wanted to show what I was capable of in the national team,” he added.
