The sighting of a white shark between nine and ten feet long (2.7 to 3 meters), with aggressive behavior near the shore, forced authorities to close the Sundown Seaside area this Wednesday, Huntington Seaside lifeguards reportedin Orange County
White shark observation It happened at approximately 10:00 am this Wednesday.when the shark was seen actively feeding on a sea lion near the shore.
Due to the threat to public safety and the risk it could pose to bathers, Huntington Seaside authorities closed beach access for forty eight hours within a radius of one mile (1.6 kilometers) in each direction from Tower 12 at Sundown Seaside.

“In addition to the inherent danger that a great white shark poses in the area, risk increases when actively feeding on large food sources“Huntington Seaside lifeguards said in a statement posted on social media.
“They can say: ‘Look, they don’t want anyone near that food source.‘. So we don’t want any of our beachgoers or any member of our community to be exposed to that situation,” said Huntington Seaside Fire Department Marine Safety Division Chief Trevor McDonald.
Authorities reported no injuries. for having a close relationship with the white shark.
