The president of the United States, Donald Trump, said this Wednesday that He had an “excellent conversation” by telephone with his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putinwho offered him “help” in negotiations to limit Iran’s reserves of enriched uranium.
“I talked about Ukraine and I talked a little bit about Iran. I talked about a few different topics, mainly about Ukraine, and we had a great conversation. “I think we are going to find a solution relatively quickly,” Trump said during a meeting in the Oval Office with the astronauts of the Artemis II program.
According to the American, Putin stated that he would “like to get involved in enrichment, if he can help us achieve it,” in apparent reference to limiting Iran’s nuclear program, of which Russia is an ally.
“I responded that I would much rather he be involved in ending the war in Ukraine, for me, that would be more important. “We are not going to allow Iran to obtain a nuclear weapon,” added the president, who extended the ceasefire with the Persian country indefinitely to give room for negotiations to end the war.

Putin “neither wants to see them (Iran) possess a nuclear weapon,” Trump saidwhich despite the truce, maintains a naval blockade on the coasts of the Islamic Republic, which in turn has interrupted traffic through the Strait of Hormuz, a route through which 20% of the world’s crude oil passed.
Regarding the conflict in Ukraine, which the Republican has tried to end without success, he insisted that in his “long conversation” with the Russian president, he suggested “the possibility of a ceasefire” with the Ukrainians.
“I think (Putin) could agree to it. He may announce something about it.
For his part, Putin told Trump that he is willing to declare a ceasefire during the celebrations of Victory Day, May 9, the national holiday that commemorates the defeat of Nazi Germany by the Soviet Union in World War II, the state agency TASS reported.
“Trump actively supported the initiative, stating that this holiday commemorates our joint victory over Nazism in World War II.“, declared the Russian presidential advisor for International Affairs, Yury Ushakov. EFE
