The authorities revealed new details about the case of Janette MacAusland, a 49-year-old mother accused of murdering her two children, Kai, 7, and Ella, 6in his residence located in the exclusive suburb of Wellesley, Massachusetts.

According to the arrest affidavit obtained by The Boston Globe and other media, the events occurred last Friday, when The woman allegedly strangled the minors in a bed inside the family homevalued at approximately $1.5 million. He later fled to the state of Vermont.

There, according to the document, he arrived in a state of crisis at his aunt’s house, where he confessed to the crime. “She was hysterical,” the defendant told the authorities, who also indicated that MacAusland had a visible wound on her neck and stains of dried blood.

“I wanted us to go to God together”

The sworn statement includes phrases attributed to the accused that have generated a stir. According to his aunt, MacAusland stated: “I wanted the three of us to go to God together, but it didn’t work out.”

The woman also admitted that tried to take his own life after committing the crime. He said he considered jumping off a bridge in Vermont, but was unable to do so.

When questioned by the police, MacAusland reiterated her confession: “I strangled them and then tried to kill myself,” also pointing out that the children’s bodies were found in their bed in the family home.

After receiving this information, the Vermont authorities alerted the Massachusetts police, who went to the home and confirmed the discovery of the lifeless minors.

Judicial process and extradition in progress

MacAusland was arrested in Vermont on charges of fugitive from justice. She subsequently faced a court hearing on Monday, during which she agreed to be extradited to Massachusetts, where she has already been formally charged with two counts of murder.

During the appearance, the woman showed signs of emotional distress and was wearing a suicide prevention gown, according to reports.

Court documents also reveal that The defendant was going through a divorce process with her husband, Samuel MacAusland.started in October 2025 after nine years of marriage.

The process included Disputes over custody of minors and ownership of the family home. Days before the crime, both parties had agreed to appoint a judicial guardian to look after the interests of the children.

The authorities confirmed that the investigation remains ongoing, while the judicial process against the accused progresses.
