Mexican authorities confirmed the arrest in Venezuela of Erika Maria Herreraidentified as allegedly responsible for the feminicide of Carolina Flores Gomezwhich occurred in April in Mexico City.
According to the Total Justice Prosecutor’s Office, the capture was made on April 29 in Caracas, after the issuance of a red Interpol card that allowed her to be located after several days on the run.
The murder occurred on April 15 in an apartment located in the luxurious area of Polanco, in the Mexican capital. The victim, 27 years old, technology a former beauty queen originally from Baja California.
Investigations indicate that the aggressor, who was the young woman’s mother-in-law, shot her inside the family home. The incident was captured by a security camera installed in the property.which made it possible to identify the alleged perpetrator.
The crime occurred in the presence of the victim’s husband and her minor son, which generated strong public outrage.

After the feminicide, Erika María managed to leave the country, which activated international cooperation mechanisms for her search.
It was finally located in Venezuela, where local authorities arrested her with the support of Interpol. He now remains in custody while the procedures for his possible extradition to Mexico are carried out.
