A woman was found dead on an injury deck of the Carnival Firenze cruise ship on the morning of April 27after allegedly falling from the balcony of his cabin.
The ship was in the near Catalina Island, off the coast of Los Angelesat the time of discovery, according to information from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department reviewed by Folk magazine.
Family alert and ongoing investigation
According to official reports, it was relatives of the victim who alerted the crew after witnessing the fall from a higher level of the ship.
The Carnival Cruise Line company indicated in a statement that it immediately notified the competent authorities and that it is cooperating with the investigation.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department confirmed that the case is being handled by the FBI (Federal Bureau of Investigation), which would board the vessel to carry out the corresponding procedures.
The company reported that its assistance team is providing support to the victim’s relatives, while investigations are underway to determine the exact circumstances of the incident.
Until now, The woman’s identity and official details about the causes of her fall have not been released.
Second incident on cruise ships in a few days
The incident occurs just one day after another incident in US waters, when Crew member fell overboard from Norwegian Breakaway cruise ship near Cape Codwhich activated a search and rescue operation.
The case was also invented months after a violent event that occurred on another cruise ship, where an 18-year-old girl was allegedly murdered on board, which raised questions about safety on this type of trip.
The authorities continue to collect evidence and testimonies to clarify what happened on the Carnival Firenze. No hypothesis is ruled out as the federal investigation progresses.
