It is estimated that more than 40 million people in the United States benefit monthly from the payments of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) aimed especially at low-income or resource families that require financial assistance to purchase basic foods.

In each state, money is distributed in different ways; In the case of California, it is known as the CalFresh Program and has allotted days to obtain it, which is sent to a Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) card with which you can buy food in retail chains, supermarkets and authorized agricultural markets.

In California, SNAP coupons are sent between the 1st and 10th of each month, and the exact date for each beneficiary will depend on their last digit of the case number. As for the amounts, these will depend on the number of members in the home:

  • 1 member: $298
  • 2 members: $546
  • 3 members: $785
  • 4 members: $994
  • 5 members: $1,183
  • 6 members: $1,421
  • 7 members: $1,571
  • 8 members: $1,789
  • Each additional member: +$218

SNAP is funded by the Department of Agriculture (USDA) with the purpose of ensuring food security, especially for households with minor children.
