LAPD turns to manmade intelligence to combat robberies in the San Fernando Valley

The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) uses the use of manmade intelligence to counteract the wave of robberies against residences and businesses that has been affecting the San Fernando Valley for a few weeks now.

At the request of the LAPD, the company ACS Security installed a mobile surveillance unit that uses man-made intelligence to track potential suspects at the intersection of Ventura Boulevard and Ethel Avenue, a high traffic area in Studio Metropolis.

ACS Security said the unit monitors the area 24 hours a day, seven days a week, with technology that analyzes videos and distinguishes between animals, people and vehicles.

If any activity is detected as suspicious by manmade intelligence, a notification is sent to the specialized call centerwhere human operators can send help in staunch time.

“We have provided information, recordings and license plates to the Los Angeles police who have actively collaborated in their investigations, and some of those cases have led to arrests“, said ACS Security spokesperson, Aaron Sias, in an interview with the KTLA network.

Due to the increase in home invasions and robberies, Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass instructed the LAPD to increase the number of police patrols in the San Fernando Valley.
