The acting attorney general of the United States, Todd Blanche, revealed this Sunday that preliminary investigations suggest that The suspect in the shooting at the White House correspondents’ dinner targeted senior government officialsprobably including President Donald Trump.

In an interview on NBC’s Meet the Press, Blanche explained that, although the motive remains under investigation, the suspect’s electronic devices and interviews with his acquaintances point to a targeted attack against members of the administration. However, he asked for caution, since the investigation is only in its first 24 hours.

The prosecutor detailed that the suspect managed to break the security perimeter of the Washington Hilton hotel by just a few meters before being intercepted by the secret service.

According to Blanche, the security system worked correctly and prevented a major tragedy. Authorities have reconstructed the route of the attacker, who traveled by train from Los Angeles to Chicago and from there to Washington, DC, where he checked into the hotel a day or two before the event.

The suspect purchased the two weapons he carried in the attack within the past two years, Blanche said.

Initial evidence indicates that he acted alone, but this interpretation could change as investigators gather more information. The attacker was arrested and taken to a local hospital for evaluation, although authorities indicated he was not injured by gunfire during the incident. Blanche confirmed that the suspect is not cooperating with investigators and is expected to be formally charged Monday in federal court in the District of Columbia.

The favorite phase of the 2026 Liga MX closing tournament has ended and the matchups for La Liguilla have already been set. Carlos Millet and Ricardo López Juárez, sports editor of La Opinión, brought us the details.

“The MX League is very boring, really, I would put this season as the great exception to the rule, because it has been a very, very interesting season. There has been a change of favorites several times and in this one that we remember, it is also a short tournament and in the end there were eight teams, eight, the best eight. The truth is quite inconceivable that they would have been like this at the beginning of the season, but well, a huge season that they had, for example, the Pumas of the university that were leaders, and that will face neither more nor less than América in Liguilla,” he said Carlos Millet.
