More than 70 million seniors receive payments from the Social Security Administration (SSA) every month; Among these are both retirees and beneficiaries of the entity’s various social programs.

In the case of Supplemental Security Income (SSI) program, it is estimated that at least 7.3 million are beneficiaries, who receive their money on the first days of each month and the amounts are assigned to them depending on their marital status.

SSI is an extension of Social Security intended for retirees under age 65, low-income seniors, or people with disabilities who require financial assistance.

In this sense, for this May 1, 2026, according to the SSA payment schedule, SSI beneficiaries will receive their checks with amounts ranging from $900 for individual insured and $1,400 for jointly insured.

  • Wednesday, May 20: born from the 11th to the 20th of any month.
  • Wednesday, May 27: born from the 21st to the 31st of any month.

The amounts for these retirees are assigned depending on their retirement age. In this case, retirees at age 62 get $2,000, those aged 65 receive $3,000 and those who retire at age 70 receive $5,000.
