White House Correspondents’ Association thanks the Secret Service for guaranteeing security during dinner

The White House Correspondents Association (WHCA) thanked the Secret Service and all United States law enforcement for guarantee security during the shooting that occurred yesterday Saturday during the dinner that took place at the Washington Hilton hotel in Washington DC.

“We express our deepest gratitude to the United States Secret Service and all the inner most of the law enforcement agencies that guaranteed the safety of everyone present in the ballroom and in the immediate vicinity”says a statement from the Association.

The letter signed by Weijia Jiang, president of the WHCA, He wished a speedy recovery to the Secret Service member who was injured by the attacker who entered the hotel armed in addition to expressing his joy that all attendees, including President Trump and First Lady Melania, were unharmed.

“His actions protected a lot of guests, and we wish a speedy and full recovery to the officer who was injured in the line of duty. We are glad that everyone in attendance was unharmed, including the President, First Lady and Vice President.”, he specifies.

The Association also said it was proud of all the journalists present at the event, noting that, with serenity and courage, they began reporting immediately after what happened.

“Our dinner is meant to celebrate the First Amendment and the hard daily work of journalists who defend it. Last night, these journalists demonstrated the serenity and courage that their profession demands, beginning to report immediately after the incident occurred. We are proud of everyone present”, he expressed.

It was last night, Saturday, April 25, that a man, identified by the name of Cole Allen, entered the Washington Hilton hotel armed, firing several shots, which caused a strong mobilization and the immediate evacuation of President Donald Trump and his entourage.
