The boxing card scheduled for June 6 at the Utilita Arena in Sheffield has undergone a significant modification. The world champion Dalton Smith will not be able to perform the defense of his title against the Dominican challenger Alberto Puello due to an injury that occurred during his training camp.
This combat represented the return of Dalton Smith to his hometown after his recent international victory.

The organization has confirmed that, although the normal main event is cancelled, the rest of the sporting event in Sheffield will remain on its feet with new protagonists in the star turn.
The impact of the injury on the calendar
The boxer British had just consolidated his career last January after defeating Subriel Matías by knockout at Barclays Heart. With that performance, Dalton Smith was positioned as one of the most relevant figures of the 140 poundsgenerating high expectations for his first mandatory defense against Puello.
The official promoter of the event announced the news through its communication channels on April 27. “We wish Dalton Smith a speedy recovery from his injury,” Matchroom Boxing published on its official X social network account, confirming the withdrawal of the Sheffield fighter for the agreed date.

In the absence of Dalton Smith, The fight between Galal Yafai and Ricardo Sandoval has been promoted to the predominant event of the night. In this confrontation the unified flyweight titles of the World Boxing Council (WBC) and the World Boxing Association (WBA) will be disputed.
The organizing company detailed the changes through a technical statement. “Galal Yafai’s unified world title fight against Ricardo Sandoval will now be the predominant event at the Sheffield Arena.Matchroom Boxing reported as part of the June 6 card update.
