actress and singer Maite Perroni spoke like never before about the chapter of her life in which she was the target of criticism for her physique through social networks. Moved, she shared the impact that these negative comments had on her life, as well as the process she went through to become a key figure against digital bullying.

In an open-heart talk with her former RBD partner Christian Chávez, the 43-year-old celebrity opened up about the physical changes she went through in 2021 as a result of her busy work schedule and complications during her pregnancy.

“When I returned to Spain I already had 8 kilos more in a month. The day Lía was born I weighed 93 kilos and 700 grams. And then at that moment I said: ‘Ample, that’s it, it is what it is'”he commented on his friend and colleague’s podcast.

Like any human being, Maite faced an internal battle derived from bad comments directed at her physical appearance. “I began to see how this whole conversation was directed towards my physical appearance, towards my weight. Obviously at that moment it bothered me, I felt uncomfortable, it bothered me, it caused things to me”he accepted.

According to the testimony of Maite Perroni, the criticism fell on her like a bucket of cold water because, from the beginning, the topics of conversation about her were related to her projects and not to falling into “the mold” of beauty standards.

I was never a person who sold a specific image or aesthetic, I was always strange. And I don’t have to be ashamed or hide from anyone because I’m not having a bad time either, because I’m very happy with my life,” he added.

However, the interpreter of “” chose to turn the situation around and raise her voice against digital violence. This is how, supported by her husband, the producer Andrés Tovar, Maite Perroni decided to publicly confront the attacks and draw a clear line against what is considered freedom of expression and ends up being cyberbullying.

“There comes this thing from within when you say: ‘Enough.’ I do believe that respect is very important and because I also believe that no one has to experience this digital violence. And not only with respect to your physical appearance, but also with many other areas of your life.“, he detailed before Christian Chávez.

Finally, the RBD star stated that he will not take his finger off the line about this cause: “It’s not about me, it’s not about whether Mayte is fat or not. It’s about us visualizing these social pressures that exist and how so many people identify with us.”“He said forcefully.
